We are writing to inform you about a recent change to the Veterinary Medicines Regulations that is now in effect. These new regulations require anyone prescribing a prescription-only medicine, including our SQPs and Territory Managers, to document the reason for prescribing that medicine.
What this means when you order from our SQPs in store or Territory Managers on farm:
Our Territory managers and SQPs will now need to record the reason for prescribing that product. As such, your conversations with our SQPs may now involve more discussion about the reasons behind the medicines you are looking to purchase. This may include what medicines you have previously used, or farm-specific issues like parasite burden (e.g., using faecal egg counts) and resistance patterns.
This ensures that all prescriptions comply with the new legal requirements and ensures that medicines are used responsibly and only when necessary, based on solid evidence.
This will involve a little more time at the point of sale so please bear with us. We will ensure this is done correctly for you and as quickly as possible. Please contact your territory manager if you have any questions or need assistance understanding this new requirement. We are committed to supporting you and ensuring these changes are as straightforward as possible.
